We just won the European Drag Racing Championship in the Top Methanol class!

The decisive moment came during this weekend’s race at Santa Pod Raceway in England, when we defeated the reigning champion, Sandro Bellio, in the semi-finals. Both the season and the weekend have been characterized by challenges, ups and downs. We started the season strongly with a win in the first round in England. Subsequently, there have been many challenges in the subsequent races in Sweden, Norway and Germany. During the third championship round in Sweden, we lost the lead in the championship, but recovered with a third place in the race in Hockenheim in Germany two weeks ago. This meant that they went into the final weekend with a narrow lead, and victory in the championship was still within reach for several of the participants. Iwould really like to highlight the team’s enormous effort and willingness to persevere which has led to us being able to pull this off.

The weekend’s race had a dramatic start which included a total engine failure during Friday’s qualifying, resulting in an engine change. On Sunday, they made it through the elimination rounds, first by knocking out Tony Bryntesson and then the aforementioned Sandro Bellio, securing them the title of European Champions! To our knowledge, this is the first Norwegian (and first female) Top Metanol Funny Car driver to ever win the European Championship.
